Theatretrain students who will be performing in
Wonderous Stories at London Palladium in July2007.
Recent production of Laugh out Loud, features Sady Overton and Hannah Brewer.
“We were involved in a
production called ‘Songs of the
Century’ which meant the children
got to sing everything from First
World War favourites like ‘Keep
the Home Fires Burning’ to Robbie
Williams’‘Let Me Entertain You’
“In July this year we’ll be
performing
at
the
London
Palladium which is a fantastic
opportunity.”
Each Saturday the children split
into three age groups 6-8 year olds,
9-12 year olds and 13-18 year olds
to do an hour in each discipline of
singing, dancing and acting.
Julie adds: “Some children are
fairly reserved when they first
join, but they soon learn discipline,
self-esteem and confidence.
“They begin to believe they
can do things they thought were
beyond them.
“Whether they choose to carry
on with performing or not it really
gives
them
a boost in
whatever they
choose to do in
life.
“Some of the
most rewarding
m o m e n t s
I’ve had with
Theatretrain
have
been
watching
c h i l d r e n
come out of
themselves.”
Students are welcome to place
their name on the waiting list.
Julie has been busy with another
project that gives many other
island children the chance to
perform.
Earlier this year she held open
auditions for all island children
aged between 6 and 16 for an
opportunity to star in a production
Island Life - www.isleofwight.net
of Bugsy Malone.
The cast of the show put on by
Playhouse Youth Productions is
currently busy rehearsing for their
performances, which will take
place at the Medina Theatre on
13th/14th/15th April.
If any Students are seeking a
career in performing Arts then we
are able to offer them advice, says
Julie.
