A fresh canvas
Auris by Saville Row
When considering buying
a new car, there are many
factors which influence the
purchase. Build quality, reliability, pedigree and price
to name but a few, however
when it comes to Toyota,
the reliability box comes
pre-ticked. There are certain
attributes which become established with a brand with
trust and assurance firmly
fixed with Toyota.
Moving up through the family,
from the Toyota Aygo, and Yaris
I find myself with the newly appointed replacement to the Toyota
Corolla – the all new Auris. Naming debates aside, this is a stylish
compact small to mid-sized car
that fulfils the role of its predecessor with distinctions. As with all
Toyotas, one size fits all and taking the rightful place behind the
wheel is like slipping into a tailor
made suit. The driving position
and overall comfort is well defined
and is easily overlooked because it
is so good. The
design is well
balanced, aerodynamic
lines
smooth
down
the bonnet and
run into a well
defined
custom made front
body skirt. The
car can be complimented with
accessories such
as the rear tail-gate spoiler which
brings a hint of racing as supplied
by Toyota motor sport GmbH. The
tailoring inside is modern with a
futuristic centre column and an elevated gear lever which is flicked
into gear like silk. The Auris comes
with a euro NCAP five star rating
boasting the support of nine airbags. The range includes a 1.4
litre and 1.6 litre petrol and with
three diesel sizes on offer – the 1.4
litre, 2.0 litre and 2.2 litre. Prices
start from £11,995 on the road
and with an endless list of options
and accessories by having it tailor
made Auris would make you the
envy of Saville Row.

Gurnard marsh and a
family of five set sail in
a C4 Picasso...
Last issue I was fortunate to
experience the Citroen C4
Picasso with seven seats,
today my artistic licence has
been extended to include a
road test with the C4 Picasso with five seats!
The difference is in the detail and
the choices and options available.
It is about having the flexibility and
availability to reflect your current
life style. The perky 2.0 litre I road
