Let there be
light
Estimates suggest there are a
staggering 10,600 accidents
involving horses on the road
each year – that’s almost 30
per day! What’s more, over
100 horses are killed on UK
roads every year.
Shocking statistics like these
show why more and more riders
are using reflective clothing,
both for themselves and their
horses.
Wearing reflective clothing is a
step in the right direction, but
since it only works when lit by
approaching headlights or some
other light source, it’s not
perfect - and in some cases, can
be too little, too late.
That’s why PolyBrite have
devised a neat solution to the
growing problem. The company
has incorporated a patented
advanced Polymer/LED lighting
technology into its garments,
which means that riders do not
have to rely on outside light
sources. The innovative and
durable lighting system operates
on two ordinary AA batteries or
a 2032 Lithium battery.
The light – which can be set on
constant or flashing - is visible
from up to 3000 metres at
night, in low light, and no-light
situations, and the two AA
batteries will last up to 450hrs
in flashing mode. The full range
includes horse bibs, exercise
sheets, vests and arm and leg
bands, and all can be washed as
normal without having to
remove the lighting strips.
