Monticello is located in southeast Minnesota
within Wright County. The Mississippi River flows
through town, making the area great for fishing,
boating and canoeing. Bird-watchers visiting in
winter can experience the yearly pilgrimage of
Trumpeter Swans, which return to the area to
nest. With 26 city-owned parks, visitors will not
be at a loss for outdoor activities. Campers have a
wealth of wooded campsites at their disposal.
Monticello has a wide array of lakes, rivers parks
and trails to provide opportunities to experience
and learn about the great outdoors. If golfing
is on your agenda, be sure to check out one of
the area golf courses. If bowling is more your
style, Monticello offers a state of the art bowling
center complete with laser tag, arcade, food and
beverages. The Monticello Community Center
offers an indoor pool, walking track, climbing
wall, ice skating and more. Emagine Monticello
has a monster screen which is 80 feet wide and
35 feet ta ll, and is the largest theatre screen in
Minnesota. The auditorium seats nearly 600
people in high back rocker chair seats making it
the best place to see the big releases.
