SMARTPHONE OWNERSHIP SURGES IN DEVELOPING ECONOMIES Benefiting from the digital boom, smartphone ownership increases across the region while markets like Singapore and Kuala Lumpur remain stable. 7 out of 10 in Bangkok and Jakarta think that mobile technology is central to their everyday activities. Top purchasers of consumer electronic goods are the affluent in Bangkok, spending an average of USD 1,385 a year. Conducted from July 2015 to June 2016, Ipsos spoke to 19,103 affluent people across the region (with 8,683 of them from South East Asia) to obtain the 2016 results.
