How Healthy is your Brand Body ?

My introduction to 2017 was to go into hospital for an operation . It wouldn ’ t have been my first choice experience for the New Year but it was informative nonetheless . So , what do operations and brands have in common ? Quite a lot in terms of measurement and management as it turns out .
Academics and practitioners including thought leaders like Dr . Atul Gawande 1 have spoken of how medicine has moved from honing in narrowly on a single condition to managing patients more holistically , trying to ensure that every part of the body and spirit is oriented towards rapid and effective healing . This reflects a shift in focus from understanding each aspect in molecular detail to understanding how to manage an entire system that has to work in synchronicity .
And data provides the foundation for both .
In the case of my operation , it meant attention to detail from managing my breathing in order to maximise oxygen circulation through to exactly what type of cut would be most suitable for my particular set of variables .
On the operation front I found it fascinating . My ( magician ) surgeon took into account not only the medical variables but also when I should start eating again and what to eat ( to make sure all the organs around the operation could rest and not have work to do in the 24 hours after the operation ). Compression stockings ensured that blood circulated properly . Breathing techniques and exercises were recommended . The anaesthetist managed a very fine balance to ensure that I had no drowsiness , nausea or sore throat following the operation . All this meant I also felt good ,
