makeup and techniques, but we still should set some guidelines. As long as they apply their products properly, they can add more without looking overdone. By the time senior prom rolls around, they can look red carpet ready, appropriately! Feel free to refer back to any of the other age notes; I've already

touched the basics, so now I'm just adding to those.

Foundation

They probably already have a favorite foundation but now full coverage or matte

foundation is in the ball field. A lot of foundations have SPF in them- on prom use one without A SPF, it looks better in photos. Also I suggest all should use some type of foundation brush, it saves product and applies product more evenly.

Addons

A face primer is a perfect add on before your foundation (Smashbox Face Primer $16-$45). It gives you a more flawless canvas and also helps your foundation last longer.

Eyes

Now mixing up their eye shadow colors shouldn't be as intimidating (Blend, Blend, Blend). Introducing them to a liquid eyeliner is an option now, it gives a more intense line and color. There are so many color liners now finding one that brings out their eye color is a good choice. Also, if you do a bold eye, do a soft lip and vise versa.

Lashes/Brows

A brow pencil or brow powder will help them shape or fill in their brows. We

still want the brows to look natural and amazing (they play a crucial role on the face). For occasions like prom false lashes are an awesome add on. Now fibers are in (Youniques 3D Fiber

Mascara, $29 or Tartes Best In Faux, $20) these allow your teen to have long full lashes without looking fake. A good black mascara never goes out of style though.

Cheeks

I'm sure you have heard of contouring and your teen has YouTubed it, but it definitely isn't an everyday must. You can do a soft contour with a powder bronzer and highlighter. As for blush, they can experiment with different colors.

Lips

The world of lips is endless; they can try a lip stain or use lipstick and even add a lip liner. If they want a lip liner, make sure it isn't too much darker than their lipstick or gloss, otherwise it just looks over done. A good neutral lip color that you can use for summer and winter is always nice.

As I said before, each parent and teenager have their own preferences. What one parent approves of, others may not; these basics are what I feel are appropriate as a makeup artist. Our daughters are beautiful with or without makeup. Skincare and makeup are not meant to hide or mask our beauty but to enhance it. Lets help them not make the same mistakes we did in high school. Also keep in mind makeup always looks best on healthy cared for skin. I hope this gave you a good idea of age appropriate makeup for your tween and teen.
