As soon as I started middle school I could not wait to get my hands on makeup! We all know cosmetics are fun, feminine, and a part of growing into a lady. Looking back at my early years of wearing makeup, I laugh… I made all the amateur mistakes. From not wearing the correct foundation shade to loud unblended eye shadows, are just a few I'm guilty of. The biggest mistake I made was neglecting my skin care. I didn't have a lot of guidance in the cosmetic/skincare area (it just wasn't mom's expertise), so I tried my own thing, which luckily worked out in the end. Now being a mother of three girls myself and having a career in the cosmetic field, I want to share the knowledge I've learned along the way with moms and their teens. Here are some basics for age appropriate skincare and makeup as well as ideal products.

Let's start with age appropriate skincare. It is never too early to educate your tween or

teen on the importance of a good skincare regimen. I see a lot of young girls neglect this area and they we see the results years down the road. Especially for the preteens, I suggest we keep it simple: Cleanse, moisturize and protect.
