She then began to peruse her mother’s piano books as well, learning different chords and patterns. After much practice, she began to master the skill of playing by ear. She is self-taught and credits her father Jim for expanding her knowledge and abilities by studying with him, learning Classic Rock tunes. Gretta’s influences include her father Jim, 70’s Rock, 80’s Rock, and current artists such as MATCHBOX 20, 3 DOORS DOWN, LIFEHOUSE and THE KILLERS. Amber Grunden: Amber started playing the bass only 1 year before becoming a founding member of Take 147 in 2005. She purchased a bass and an instructional CD and is also self-taught. Amber is heavily influenced by Rap and began writing music in high school. Amber wrote and performed an original Rap song for her high school’s prom, titled “Promise”--beating out all of the other competitors for the opportunity to perform. She continues to bring her influences to Take 147, giving originals an added twist. Amber’s influences include 80’s Rap, MODEST MOUSE, NEW POLITICS and SEGAN & TARA. Patty Wilson: Patty began playing music in the 5th grade. She played the violin in the school orchestra and moved on to play the viola and learn guitar in high school and college. From 1997 through 2000, she played rhythm guitar until her band at the time found itself without a drummer. Resourceful Patty then taught herself to play the drums. Patty has played drums with several different local bands and joined Gretta and Amber, forming Take 147 in 2005. Patty enjoys many different styles of music and has the broadest range of influences within the band--Alternative Rock, Pop, Indie Rock, Folk and International music.
