ION INDIE MAGAZINE October 2016, Volume 29 | Page 74
Ryan: I think David and I could both agree on
CORROSION OF CONFORMITY…definitely
LYNYRD SKYNYRD. I am a huge blues
fan…MUDDY WATERS, HOWLING WOLF, B.B.
KING…all the old roots, blues music. ALICE IN
CHAINS is definitely one of the band favorites.
Man, there are just so many of them and
they’re all over the place.
David: I know I can mention earlier bands, like
led ZEPPELIN, THE DOORS, ZZ TOP-- all of the
bands are blues influenced, yet they all sound
so different. What they have in common is they
have that blues-based music.
Ryan: The blues are the root of American rock
and roll.
JP: You have a CD out, “Born Into Dirt”--I have
it in my collection. What do you believe our
readers will get when they listen to the CD?
Ryan: From song to song, you’re gonna get a different vibe. There will be a different feel. You may just have a
straight forward rock song, then a straight forward blues song. It’s really like a roller coaster ride.
David: It’s listener friendly. The listener is not going to have a hard time finding what they want out of it.
JP: You also have a brand new single out that we are featuring in the magazine for our readers. Does that
mean there will be a forthcoming album as well?
Ryan: Yes, we are working on that. We have a few tracks laid down in the studio. We will have a new album out-within a year? I don’t know it’s really hard to say. We have been doing a little bit at a time. We’ve also been
trying to get a video done (for the new single). We recently had a change in drummers, which set us back a little
bit.
JP: There are certain songs that seem to mean more to us than others as musicians and songwriters.
Sometimes it’s hard to pick just one. I’m asking you of all of your songs, which is your favorite or most
meaningful?
Kevin: “I Can’t Change” is my favorite.
David: To me, it’s “Old Hat”. To me, it’s very, very personal and my favorite. It encompasses what Lowrcase g was
at the time we wrote it. It encompasses Lowrcase g and the direction I see it going. The words are personal. I
brought the song to Ryan and he put some good melodies with it. It is a song that defines the band. It’s a very
bluesy song, but a very rockin’ song.
