“SIRIUS/XM and JOSE MANGIN have been a huge part in getting us out to the masses,” he says. “If we hadn’t been played on Sirius/XM I don’t know if we’d be heard as much, or if people would come out to see us. On the first album, Sirius played us and people were pulled into it. Then, getting signed to Metal Blade-all of those things were success points, but at the same time, all of those are things helping us grow and be who we are. In the end, the live show is where you’re really going to sell some people. People will hear a song and then come to see you play--then they’ll go, ‘Holy shit, I’m a fan for life!’ And it’s how we are at the shows, too. We hang out with the fans--we sign stuff, take pictures, and just hang out like we’re there at the show. We’ve bonded with a lot of fans that come out to see us and know who we are…that grassroots approach.” If there was ever any doubt, Battlecross genuinely enjoys doing that they do, and judging by Deraniyagala’s attitude, this will be the case for quite some time. “We’re all close friends, just getting up there and having fun,” he says. “It’s going up there with your buddies and just jamming--that’s what I love about it.” www.battlecrossmetal.com www.facebook.com/battlecrossmetal
