Working at THE Q&Z EXPO CENTER as a staff photographer, I usually get to meet most of the bands before they take the stage. With THE GLORIOUS SONS, I didn’t have the chance. When they were setting up and getting ready for their set, they looked a bit worn out, and I am very sorry to admit I wasn’t expecting much. I was knocked on my ass for even thinking such a thing! Once the music started to fill the hall, these guys had a new life and shared it with the audience! THE GLORIOUS SONS came to us from Canada, starting their tour with two top 10 singles (“Mama” at #6 and “White Noise” at #2) on Canada’s active rock charts. During the tour of the states with 10 YEARS, two more of their songs (“Heavy” & “Lightning”) went top 5 on the Canadian charts…all of which can be found on their current CD “Union”. They look at themselves as a working man’s band. I think you will find that they fit that bill and so much more. When BRETT EMMONS starts to belt out his vocals, the rest of the band comes alive. The boys start to rock and with each song, you see them start to “play” on stage. What I mean by that, is they start to bump into each other and knock each other around--all the while smiling and not missing a note. The fun they have on stage lights up the audience as well. Brett’s stage presence is his own unique style, but he puts 100% into it and gets lost in the music. It’s very exciting to witness! But don’t get me wrong, this is a band that is tight--from vocals, all the way down the line. JAY EMMONS and ANDREW YOUNG give a strong driving rhythm that works so well with ADAM PAQUETTE’S drum beat and Chris HOUT’S personal bass flavor. This band is linked together and would be hard pressed to ever miss one of the link. Make sure you take the time and give these boys a listen. They most definitely are one hell of an import from our Canadian friends! THE GLORIOUS SONS ARE: Brett Emmons—Vocals, Adam Paquette—Drums, Chris Hout—Bass, Andrew Young—Guitar, Jay Emmons–-Guitar and Tony Silvestri—Keyboards. www.theglorioussons.com www.facebook.com/TheGloriousSons
