feelings. I was discovered with raw talent by CHAD AUSTIN, my Producer/Guitar player, and he helped me
expand my vocal range and brought me to where I am today. I also play acoustic guitar and I love playing
piano.
JB: Who are your musical influences?
KARA: PAT BENATAR, LITA FORD, STEVIE NICKS, PATTY SMYTH, SEBASTIAN BACH, AMY LEE
JB: What venue would you like to play that you haven't yet?
KARA: We want to play all the major venues in the world. The sky is the limit…..GO BIG OR GO HOME!
JB: What makes your music different from other artist?
KARA: We have a unique sound that is kind of Country, Gothic, Metal…it’s hard to really define, but we are
who we are and we embrace it.
JB: Do you feel it is a help or a hindrance being a female in the music business?
KARA: Actually it is a huge help. THE LOOK is half the battle. I would put them next to stage presence. When
someone hears your music and sees your show, they see what you wear, how you sound and how you hold
yourself as an artist. When I am on stage I am no longer Kara--people see me as KARA. I’m not going to lie,
I have never understood why people dress casual and become part of the background on stage. MAKE A
STATEMENT! The stage is your world and you should take advantage of it. As a side note…as a female, you
do have to be careful off the stage because of who approaches you. Just be cautious--guys can get the wrong
impression.
JB: Is there anyone that makes you think "How the heck did THEY get famous?"
KARA: LOL—actually, a lot of people. I’m not going to hate on anyone, but all I have to say is there is magic
to singing naturally without using tracks and autotune. It makes all the hard work pay off and worth it ‘cause
you are giving the audience your natural voice to express your emotion. That being said, anybody who makes
it in the music industry, I give them kudos.
JB: Who is your favorite artist that you have shared the stage with so far? Who would you like to share the
stage with?
KARA: My favorite artist I’ve shared the stage with so far that I am honored to work with is CHAD AUSTIN. He
is not only my guitar player, but also our producer. And when we write songs together…well…it just works,
and it works really well. It’s great to be on stage with someone that has brought you to where you are and is
going to get you to where you want to go. He is the most talented individual I have had the pleasure of
working with. In the future, when we get to where we want to be in the industry, I have always wanted to share
the stage with PAT BENATAR. She is the person that inspired me to start singing with power and emotion.
JB: What music do you listen to in your down time?
