CHAOS’S CORNER
By Shawn Joseph
Welcome back surveyors of Chaos! This year is virtually flying right past us as we near this midst of spring and prepare for
summer. We have gone from snow to sunshine in only a few short months here at my lair. Sit back and take a breather whilst I
entertain you this fine day.
This is Chaos’s Corner, the place where scattered thoughts and fragments of work that is gathered from around the world are
combined into a symphony of nonsense. I collect works from fellow lyricists and musicians and share it with the world in an
effort to expose the unknown.
It is my dream to be heard, and I imagine that I am not alone in this. Maybe you are all too busy making a name for yourselves,
or maybe you are frightened of what Chaos might bring to you if you share your works with me. I have found my inbox getting
scarce and lonely these days. So for this month, as we are reaching our one year anniversary here at ION Indie Magazine, I
have decided to reach back and select some of my favorite pieces over the past twelve months.
This first piece was originally published in our May issue of 2014. It is from a very talented lyricist/songwriter out of
Plattsburgh, New York. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did! Thank you, DAVE JERSEY, for sharing this one with us!
THE SERPENT CROWN
By Dave Jersey
In the temple of Athena
There was an act of forbidden lust
Outraged and heart broken
An eternal curse was a must
The mistress of Poseidon
A beauty in every way
Was twisted and deformed
A reminder not to betray
Cast out into the world
Forever to be alone
Anyone who crossed her path
Would be turned to stone
The fear of her spread fast
Evil in a snake skin gown
Beware the Titan Medusa
Who wears the serpent crown
Hundreds of statues
Scattered within her lair
A constant warning
To avoid her deadly stare
Hunted throughout the years
A search so many dread
But it was Perseus son of Zeus
Who finally took her head
