In these days of the “manufactured rockstar”, it is always refreshing to come across a group that is original
and, well, actually RAWKS. And this brings me to the subject of CRASHING ANGELS. Hailing from Canada,
Crashing Angels were born out of a desire to play a unique brand of “Commercial Hard Rock” that they felt
was missing in music today. They have enjoyed a sense of longevity in their musical quest—for they have
been rockin’ since 1999. Their sound can be described as—in their words, “Hard Rock…but with a twist”.
At the foundation of any great idea, is a visionary. And in the case of Crashing Angels, that would be founder,
NEIL PARK--whose first task was to find a singer/songwriter that could take the music to that higher level.
He found that in singer DEAN MARSHALL PILKEY--who had the ability to interpret Park’s melodies in a
unique way and make them his own. Next, attentions were turned towards a bass player…and it was KENT
BENSON--with his “in the pocket” approach--who filled those shoes, giving the band its driving rhythms.
With some changes to the line-up this year, Crashing Angels were excited to recruit drummer ROB QUEEN-whose flare and rhythmic offsets on the drums were exactly what the band was looking for moving forward.
Add to this equation, PAT NEVRAUMONT on guitar--allowing for the old tactical two-guitar approach to
rejuvenate the classic CRASHING ANGELS sound—and the sum of the parts equals…MAGIC!
Crashing Angels are pure ROCK…with the element of surprise. Their two tracks “Fair Shake” and “Steps
Away” are the epitome of classic 80’s and 90’s Rock ‘n’ Roll. And then I heard their track “Runaway”…which
has almost a “Pop” flavor to it…catchiness and all! In any case, the CA sound is born from the experience
of paying some serious dues. They possess “seasoned” musicianship that is evidenced in every track of their
music.
Crashing Angels has burst out of the gate with their “Steps Away” single, recently set for commercial
distribution. And the good news keeps on coming…the fiery track is already receiving ample air play on both
U.S. and European radio stations; and coupled with its upcoming infiltration of the market and the pending
exposure, Crashing Angels are poised to become a fierce presence in the music world!
“Steps Away” is a song about the strength to seek help when we hit the proverbial brick wall....the video
concept was JONATHAN FLUVOG’S--who really captures the essence of the song--as with most persons
going through significant struggles often project themselves to be in a very dark place. The band’s
spokesperson, Neil Park, enthusiastically shares, “With the release of the Crashing Angels’ new single and
video in the works for ‘Steps Away’, we are heading back into the studio to finish recording new tracks and
heading out on the road this spring.”
Over the years, CA’s music has been heralded and much-acclaimed. In their recent history, March of 2013
found them as the five-night reigning champions on the “Rocktagon at 103FM The River Rocks” in the U.S.
Their plan is to tour, and get their music out to as many people as possible—along with doing interviews and
promoting their music.
