Story and Photography by Lee Hoffman www.buffalo24.com I had no preconceived notions when I saw the VENETIA FAIR show. Usually I do some research, or the show has a theme…Metal-Punk-Alternative…but this time I went in cold. I didn't know what to expect, but what happened was way better than anything I could have pictured. THE VENETIA FAIR doesn't fit any of these genres. If I had to put them in a genre, it'd be “Circus-Rock”. The keyboards, bass and guitar all come together to create a carnival feel to the music, but it rocks. The frenetic energy on stage only supports the sideshow quality of the performance. Flailing arms, swinging guitars and flying microphones add to the circus-like feel of this show. I was surprised, time and time again, by how the music and vocals meshed into a great performance. From the Venetia Fair bio: “We try to make music that is theatric, chaotic, catchy, bitchy, and sometimes a little silly--but not too silly because it's also serious business. We have a lot of fun writing the music we write and performing the way we perform.” Yep, that covers it. Venetia Fair is: BENNY SANTORO (vocals), MR. CHARK (bass), MIKE ABIUSO (guitar), JOE BROWN (keyboards) and CVEGAS (drums). I'll be waiting for the next time they come through town. http://www.thevenetiafair.com https://www.facebook.com/thevenetiafair http://www.youtube.com/thevenetiafair
