HAMILTON LOOMIS may be seen playing both the Guitar and Harmonica at the same time. He will share his vast experiences with those of you who want to learn how to play harmonica. If you are fortunate enough to attend one of his “Harmonica Workshops”, he will even give you the harmonica for your lessons. SCORE! YD: What might someone learn by attending a session? HL: There are a few myths about Blues harmonica…I uncover these right off the bat, and from there it makes learning the harp a WHOLE lot easier. I love watching “light bulbs” go off over people’s heads when I share these in my workshops! We always have a BLAST… YD: What advice do you offer to fans that may have aspirations to learn the patience and dedication it takes to be a successful musician and showman? HL: Being a full-time musician is not the “glitz and glamour” you see on TV…it’s a lot of work, a lot of stress, and you have to be dedicated and passionate about what you do. You don’t do it for the money (or lack thereof), you do it because you love it. To say that HAMILTON LOOMIS is “Personable” is like eating the cake with no icing. It is good, but tastes even better with a little frosting. He always tries to take time to meet and greet his fans for photographs or to sign autographs. While Hamilton takes a serious approach to his craft, there are many layers to this multi-instrumentalist. YD: If writing, producing, and performing are a lifelong journey, where is your destination? HL: It’s simply to reach as many people as possible…that connection with the listeners/audience is something that validates everything I do. Touching someone with your music is the greatest feeling on Earth. YD: Do you have any hobbies that you enjoy other than music? HL: When I have a few days off, I love just hanging with my family, doing some outdoorsy stuff…we have a baby boy, and I love just being a dad and watching the little guy grow and learn. We named him Bo, after BO DIDDLEY, as a tribute to the man who helped me so much. YD: Name the Top 5 bands playing on your iPod. HL: I’m gonna give you the top 10, because the styles are all over the place: BEATLES, BRUNO MARS, GARY CLARK JR., JIMI HENDRIX, JOHN SCHOFIELD, KING’S X, LORETTA LYNN, MONTE MONTGOMERY, SLY & THE FAMILY STONE, VINTAGE TROUBLE. And I’m an Android person BTW…iPods make great doorstops. LOL.
