JB: When did you know you wanted to become a performer?
CELESTE: As long as I can remember. As a child, I was always
singing and performing and that continued throughout school until
I started performing professionally.
JB: If a person said "You sound like________" and it made you
happy, who would that be?
CELESTE: There are some female singers that I really admire and
enjoy listening to. I guess I would be quite happy if I sounded like
JANIS JOPLIN.
JB: Do people ever send you their music and want you to sing the
lyrics or want you to co-write with them?
CELESTE: Yes, I receive a lot of that, and I am really sorry that I can’t
do it. I have to write my own songs. The writing of the song is part of
the whole process from the time the song is created as a little idea,
to the moment when I perform it on stage. Although I cover other
writers and singers songs as well, it is not the same as someone
giving me a ready song to perform. I do enjoy co-writing though. My
new single that has just been released, “Unpredictable”, is a cowrite.
JB: What is the biggest difference you have noticed between
European and American Fans?
CELESTE: It is hard to say, but what I could perhaps say is that the European fans are more personal, they like to get to know
you and write to you and are very engaged in more of a “friendly” way. There is less of the “celebrity craze” sort of things. But I
am still new in the U.S. music sphere and by no means, an expert in this matter. I have been receiving some very nice emails
and messages from the U.S. fans though. Perhaps they are not that different after all.
JB: What is your favorite venue to play and why?
CELESTE: Actually I don’t really have a favorite venue yet because I have not yet toured in the U.S, that much to be able to say.
JB: You speak several languages. What is the funniest thing that has happened to you because of a misunderstood or
misinterpreted language translation?
CELESTE: Actually, what happens sometime is that I forget which language I am speaking, for example I will be in Zurich and
instead of speaking German, I would be talking in Slovak and wondering why the other person is not responding, and suddenly
catch myself speaking in the wrong language.
JB: Whose CD is in the player of your car now?
CELESTE: Believe it or not, recently I have been listening to FRANK SINATRA a lot. But I have a huge mixture of music from Rap
to Pop to Rock to ELVIS and JOHNNY CASH. I don’t go by genre, if I like the song, I listen to it.
JB: Riders play an important part of a tour contract. MARILYN MANSON once demanded a bald, toothless hooker and Haribo
(no other brand) gummy bears. THE WALLFLOWERS want freshly squeezed carrot juice and tuna that isn't “Chicken of the
Sea”. What could be considered the strangest rider request you have ever made?
CELESTE: I have a theory about why these artists have been requesting such strange riders. I think that they want to make sure
that the promoter is paying attention to the content and at the same time, find a way to exit without getting into legal
situations. I too, will make sure that the conditions are read and clear. I don’t think I have asked for anything strange, sufficient
