Soulful. Calming. Insightful. These are just a few words that describe the music of this month’s ReverbNation Artist of the
Month. Not exactly the music a trainer would have his MMA fighter listen to before a championship bout to get pumped up.
More the type to have him listen to after he got his ass kicked while he reflected on his mistakes; or for us everyday people,
just to chill out. Don't get me wrong, this isn't music to vegetate by--there are also some excellent dance tunes, but the overall
FEEL of the music is…slow down, listen to the intelligence in the lyrics, hear the voice as it carries you on its vocal journey; and
understand the message the artist is trying to convey. Many may put her in the POP MUSIC category, but I just can't pin her
down to that genre quite yet. Her music is a buffet of styles. A little of this on you plate, a little of that, oh, and definitely some
of that...Her name is CELESTE BUCKINGHAM—and she is as multi-talented as she is multicultural.
Born in Zurich, Switzerland to an American doctor father and a Swiss teacher mother, she coauthored a children’s book with
her younger sister at age 12. But she will be the first to tell you that music is her real passion. Celeste solidified her musical
journey as a finalist on the Czech Republic version of AMERICAN IDOL, SUPERSTAR. In 2012, her full-length debut album
"Don't Look Back" was awarded the honor of “Best Czech & Slovak Act” at the MTV EUROPE MUSIC AWARDS. In 2013,
Celeste set roots in the United States. She began a collaborative partnership with EARL COHEN. His musical credits lend to
such greats as LADY GAGA, PINK, WHITNEY HOUSTON, PHARRELL and DAVID BOWIE. Together they began co-writing her North
American album, all the while, being nominated in the "Best New Artist" category at the RADIO DISNEY MUSIC AWARDS. I
had the chance to ask Celeste a few questions and her answers are as follows:
