Music by THE IGNITERS “Slow Burn Blues” Twelve Bars Stars Again, The Sunshine State introduces us to another fantastic, hard-working band. This time from Brooksville, Florida, in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. The "Home of the Tangerine" is also home to THE IGNITERS. These go-getters are the epitome of musicians that want to be recognized for their musical talents, as can be verified by their busy schedule. From small clubs to music fests, they have tasted the blood of success and are going for the throat. These guys not only want to play, they DO play. The Igniters consist of JOE NATALE, on lead, rhythm and vocals. Joe comes from an established music family in New York. His father played Italian standards in many of the city's clubs, his mother was a singer, his brother Sal introduced him to Rock and Roll, and his sister…well, let's just say his sister wasn't too happy when she found out Joe would sneak into her room and use her prized guitar to practice his blooming artistry. Yeah, he got caught after about a month. The fun was over and Joe's secret practice sessions were put on hold for a while (for anyone else thinking about this scheme, Rock and Roll is not a genre you want to play while trying to be quiet). At sixteen, Joe convinced a sap to trade a guitar for a beat-up harmonica. Don't we ALL wish we had the power to make trades like that? At eighteen, Joe joined his first band and hasn't slowed down. MAURICE RHODES gives the funk to The Igniters with his smooth bass lines, influenced by such greats as SLY STONE, SANTANA, TOWER OF POWER--and other fantastic musicians of that era.
