JP: Tell the readers of ION Indie Magazine about yourself. STI:My name is Sanho The Indian I'm 27 and I'm a hip-hop rap artist straight out of California l. I was born in pueblo Colorado, moved to Napa California in 1995. Growing up I was really not the center of attention kind of person. I kept quiet to myself most of the time. One Christmas my mother actually bought me a Yamaha keyboard and since that day I knew I was destine to do something with music. I've always had an itch for rhyming and poetry. It seemed to come really natural to me. About 12 years old I started writing poetry,my own music and creating little rhythms to jam to. Before I knew it I was spending eight hours a day in my room locked away with just a pen/pad and my tunes. I called it "my zone". Kids were playing video games and I was sitting in the back yard rapping to my little cousins and their friends. As time progressed in my life I started actually showing people my beats/rhymes and I kept getting a really good feedback. I thought to myself, what do I got to lose. So as of now I've been working my ass off trying to get my tapes heard all over the world. I do this NOT for the money or the fame or the spotlight, I do this because music is apart of who I am and I have "passion" for the sound of music. I'm just a simple man really trying to make my dreams become reality. "My music's for the world, not to benefit just me" -SanhoTheIndian. JP: You are from the Napa Valley and your music is very laid-back. Do you feel geographic location has a direct influence on your music? STI: I think my music has always remained "my sound". I feel that living in Napa, a nice laid back little city hasn't really changed who I am when it comes to my music, writing. It's given me a chance to learn more about myself and what Napa is really about. I've always felt no one or no place can change my feelings and passion when I write. I would be doing the same kind of music I am today no matter where I live.
