PERGANA is a female-fronted Symphonic Metal band from Paraguay. Their first promotional single “Frozen
Heart” was released in 2010 and in June of 2015, they dropped their debut EP “The Mirror of Silence”. Their
second self-produced EP “The Visit” was released on November 5, 2015.
Opener “Return to Innocence” is an energetic track with fabulous female vocals, buoyed by powerful and clear
drums with ringing guitar riffs. Angela's voice is smooth like honey! Also worthy of mention is the memorable
keyboard solo. “The Whisper” is a beautiful ballad that truly showcases Angela’s extraordinary vocal talent. The
violins and piano at the beginning of “Redemption” herald a calmer and gentler song that builds and takes the
listener on a ride, punctuated by the guitar work.
I truly enjoyed the title track “The Visit”, with it positive vibes and modern sounds. The symphonic style of the
keyboards add a NIGHTWISH or EVANESCENCE ambiance to this song…although Pergana possesses a style
that is all their own.
The music of PERGANA is truly melodic in every sense, overlaid with clear and beautiful vocals. I highly
