ION INDIE MAGAZINE January 2016, Volume 20 | Page 4
Music by ANTHONY KRIZAN “Dust and Bone”
As we look toward another year of ION Indie Magazine—with
echoes of “resolutions” heralding a new day and new beginnings,
our RESOLVE on the part of this staff remains intact—to present
the very best of all genres of independent music, worldwide—and
to get their music read about and HEARD! So we embrace 2016
and revel in this New Year—as we anticipate spotlighting all of the
marvelous music that will stream in our pages this coming year--the fastest growing all genre music
publication today!
Kicking off 2016, we have none other than JASMINE CAIN…and what a way to
start the party! Journalist JERE PERRY brings you all the “411” on one of the
industry’s hardest working and rockin-est ladies to slither and sizzle across a
stage…like…EVER! Check out Jasmine Cane in this issue!
“Special Guest” Journalist joining the
festivities this month, 16 year old ALEXIS
UZELAC, proves that “age is just a
number” when it comes to wielding a pen
like a pro! Ms. Uzelac had a “Sweet 16” birthday wish to try her hand
at music journalism—and what sort of fairy would I be if I didn’t grant
a wish or two? Some young ladies opt for frothy pink confections for
this milestone birthday…Lexie chose to RAWK OUT! Read Lexie’s
review of the “Back to the Future Hearts Tour” with SLEEPING WITH SIRENS and ALL TIME LOW in this
edition of ION Indie Magazine.
Along with our incredible indie artists, we’ve had some pretty prestigious peeps make an appearance in
this January 2016 edition. Bringing the Latin flavor are MARC ANTHONY, JUAN GABRIEL and ALEJANDRO
FERNÁNDEZ--captured by the camera of Photojournalist TIMOTHY SCHUMANN. VERY Bueno! Additionally,
our Photojournalist LISA SASSERATH BOEHM presents none other than THE STEVE MILLER BAND! Talk
about bringing the year in with a BANG! All of this exclusive photography appears inside this issue.
Also in this issue, Photojournalist GARY CAROTA presents his
event “Rockin’ Kids First Benefit Concert and Auction” in North
Carolina. Gary has been working tirelessly on this charity event,
developed to benefit “Kids First of the Carolinas”. Numerous
bands participated, lending their time to this cause, in the true
spirit of the holiday! ION salutes and supports your selfless
efforts, Gary! Read all about this epic event in these pages.
And speaking of “epic”, EYE ON JAMZ--the new music video show featuring the best of independent music
videos of all genres from artists that have appeared in ION Indie Magazine—is in production! We are
grateful to ANTHONY KRIZAN (of SPIN DOCTORS’ fame)—who appeared in ION Indie Magazine last March—
for providing us with our new theme song, “Dust and Bone”…which you can hear streaming with this Letter
from the Editor!
