Who Is “The Fairy Rock Mother”? This current music industry climate is treacherous and not for wusses. And although it’s an over-used phrase, only the strong will survive. It’s disheartening to see colleagues and friends hanging up their instruments because they can’t “make it”. They quit out of frustration at not being able to sustain their careers on insignificant returns on music sales, the “pay to play” mentality that permeates the venues, the incessant begging of people to “like my page” and “retweet this”; along with the nonexistent record deals. And this doesn’t even begin to address the scammers and scoundrels that lurk in the shadows waiting to pounce on artists’ pocketbooks with the promise of success. So enter The Fairy Rock Mother…the wings are figurative and the tiara is not something I actually sport (not in public anyway). The Fairy Rock Mother represents a beacon of hope to today’s musician. She is an advocate for artists everywhere. She celebrates their warrior spirit, revels in their resilience and extols their tenacity. The Fairy Rock Mother is blunt and she’s bold, and is known to not mince words--but she’s also a champion for the underdog. She is a symbol that where there is life, there’s hope…and that maybe--just maybe-there is someone out there that actually gives a damn about artists with NO personal gain…except maybe the knowledge that perhaps the right encouragement (and sometimes, even a kick in the pants) will spur an artist on to ROCK another day. The Fairy Rock Mother reminds you—that it takes hard work to persevere in music, but if each time this industry knocks you down—you get up and come back harder—that dreams can come true. And when you are at your lowest, all it might take is an extended hand--or wing--to inspire you to keep on trying…even if it’s just one more day. For The Fairy Rock Mother believes in YOU.
