The song “Black Magic” presents true Power Metal, punctuated by masterful
drums. Heavier melodic riffs are showcased in “Hiding from the Sun”—this track
has it all…musicianship and vocals melding together and making magic. Oriental
influences and guttural guitars comprise “Reign of Kalidia”, while the ballad
“Shadow will be Gone” allows the listener a moment to catch their breath and
become lost in this beautiful melodic song.
It is impressive that every track on this KALIDIA album is different and they are
not just a clones of other bands; each is unique in its style and presentation. For
example, in “Winged Lords”, both keys and guitars are mastered in a true Metal
style, but effortlessly flows into a more of a Hard Rock pace.
KALIDIA demonstrates with its debut album their relevance on the Melodic Power
Metal music market. Production of this album is on a high level and the CD boasts
both power and energy…delivered by exceptional musicians. I highly recommend
this album to every lover of female-fronted Metal bands. I have revisited this CD,
time and time again and it has captured my heart…and I think you would feel the
same!
