Music by ONCE AROUND “Idol”
Rock ‘n’ Roll will never die...the old cliché…or is that an adage...maybe a maxim? Hell, I have no idea. As
a dyslexic high-school dropout, I never cared much for the literary arts. Which makes being a journalist for
two years a little ironic--good one, universe! Side note: I did manage to earn a bachelor’s of science and
doctorate, eventually, hence, “Dr. X”. (F-you, Principal Mancuso and evil office-lady Zimmerman!). Anyway,
none of that matters. Let’s just say, “Rock ‘n’ Roll will never die” is an old cliché. Clichés are clichés, well,
because they are basically true. As I've gotten much older and a little wiser, I have realized that all the best
shit in life is at least 90% true. Take “comedy”--usually when you laugh your ass off at a joke or some standup routine, it's because it is based on something true and real. The best stories, the best movies, the best
songs--all based on something true and real. With a lot of focus on modern music leaning towards the
negative side, it is hard to remember some of the positive things. When I read DAVE GROHL’S posts on how
these prime-time singing contests are detrimental to the development of real, natural and organically
grown music, I agreed completely. Not many kids are out there forming Rock bands at the rate they did in
my teenage years. Many people continue to say Rock is a dying genre. I call “bullshit!” I am not the least
bit concerned of Rock ‘n’ Roll ever dying. That's because I've seen ONCE AROUND.
