When Moreno was asked where his influences come from, his face lit up. “I remember watching MTV and seeing GAVIN ROSSDALE from BUSH. I had to have the same red guitar as him.” Chris picked up a similar looking red Squire guitar, a less expensive version of Rossdale’s bright red Fender. Moreno reminisced about listening to “Machinehead” by Bush and DEFTONES’ “Around The Fur” album for creativity. By the age of twenty-eight, Moreno began wondering what he wanted to sound like as an artist and where his focus should be. ION asked Moreno which genre he identified with most, “That’s a tough question. The country stations in Boston have been very responsive and they’re willing to give artists a shot.” Chris did say that he does not identify with any one genre specifically, rather he prefers to write songs that are meaningful, about real stuff people can relate to. He believes all of his lyrics and music have an inspirational undertone. “The biggest compliment out there is when fans choose to listen to your song when there is so much music They could listen to anything, but they’re listening to me.” Previews of Moreno’s songs are available on his website www.chrismorenomusic.com and his Facebook page. Moreno can be found in Instagram and Facebook as chrismorenomusic.
