On July 6 th , here in El Paso, Texas, the mecca of deathcore music, BORN OF OSIRIS brought their 2017 “New Reign Tour Part II” to…do I really need to say it? Oh yeah, Tricky Falls -- the actual beating heart for metal here in the fabulous southwest, a true “diamond in the desert”. But let's get somewhat serious now…when I saw Born of Osiris was coming here, I was beyond excited, simply because I had covered them before. Needless to say, I knew what to expect from these metal heads out of Chicago, and was not disappointed. You see, when I ran into RONNIE CANIZARO backstage, he remembered me from two years ago. He asked me how I was, how is life here for me in El Paso…am I still shooting and writing for ION? In a nutshell, he treated me as if he had known me all his life, when the fact of the matter is, we had only met once before, almost in the exact same spot. But it's actions like this that separate certain artists from others that are notoriously not so fan friendly. Ronnie is the exception to the rule, just a down to earth super guy! As I said, Born of Osiris hails from Chi-Town. They’ve been thru some name changes, but settled on Born of Osiris in ’09. Since then they have 5 EP’s, 6 videos and 4 full-length albums to their credit. Now on top of all that, they have toured with various festivals such as “Night of the Living Shred Tour,” “Music As A Weapon,” and “Summer Slaughter,” to name just a few. 9:00 p.m., right on the dot, the madness got under way. Ronnie took total control of the stage right off the bat, this providing the catalyst for circle pits, fist pumping and of course, shooting those horns. Songs sprung forth as if from the bowels of hell, titles like “Warlords,” “Bow Down,” and “Open Arms to Damnation,” -- well let's just say, it's not elevator music. This is prime “music to mosh to”. Truth be told, moshing isn’t my thing, but from my vantage point, it was apparent that everybody was having the time of their lives! In closing, what a great night. It was all smiles and slaps on the back for all who attended. And it was evident after a brief conversation with a few band members, they too had a fabulous time. Shows like this are the main reason that El Paso is a no brainer as a date on any national tour. Learn more about BOO at: www.facebook.com/bornorosiris
