Looking back at Ryche ' s career , one would think there would be enough for a great book . Ryche doesn ' t agree . After some health scares and complete recovery , his phoenix is ready to y - or more appropriately , add one more chapter , entitled “ Flying Dreams ”.
Flying Dreams at its core is Ryche Chlanda , RON BIENSTOCK and KENDALL SCOTT . Their self-titled LP is due to be released by early summer by THE ORCHARD division of SONY music , and they look to be touring shortly around that time . The music is very reminiscent of GENESIS , PINK FLOYD and KING CRIMSON , with the pop sensibility of BOSTON . I recently sat at down with Ryche and Ron Bienstock to discuss Flying Dreams , music gear , their future , and getting “ disconnected ”.
JP : WHAT ’ S BEEN UP WITH FLYING DREAMS SINCE WE LAST SPOKE .
Flying Dreams was in the stratosphere both in support of the new LP and the mapping out the ight plan for the second LP . We were grounded temporarily by a serious internal infection that Ryche developed . That ailment landed him in the hospital for 30 days . Clearly not what anyone would have anticipated – but things happen . Ryche has recovered fully , is playing and writing better than ever and the band will be out supporting the new LP for the rest of 2017 .
JP : TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT THE NEW SONG DISCONNECTED .
This last year and for the foreseeable future , has seen such a pronounced disconnect with people – both in terms of what they believe or accept as real and what they see and hear . That disconnection is the basis of the new LP ’ s rst track . We have begun to accept what we see as information on our phones from sources we have never seen or heard of before - and we are told “ this is real ”. The consequences as to all of our lives , all around the world , are unparalleled in our history . The more we feel we are connected by the internet ( look at our slavish devotion to these small portable devices ), the more the actual disconnection from reality and personal relationships we have allowed to take place . Music brings connection - it brings people together , it can be such a positive inuential force in our lives . That is the focus of the new track for the second LP .
