Why did you choose the instrument you currently play? And, tell me about the first
song you learned and the first time you performed in public. And Wally, what
vocalists have most influenced you to develop your unique sound?
Wally: My influences stem from a large spectrum…from JOHNNY CASH to EDDIE
VEDDER. The first time I ever sang in public was when I was 7. Our church’s
children’s choir was having a Christmas musical and I got a solo. I was so nervous,
but at the same time, it was the greatest high I had ever felt.
Ricky: The drums, because my father is a drummer. The first song I learned was
“Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” in its entirety, at the age of around 12, I believe.
George: I like the deepness and the growl of the bass. The first song I’ve ever
learned on bass was RHCP “Dani California”.
Justin: I chose the guitar because of how versatile it is. You have endless
possibilities—and hearing CARLOS SANTANA play “Black Magic Woman” for the
first time in my life—it was just mesmerizing for me. That was the 1st song I learned.
David: I chose guitar because it allows me to portray my musical side. I honestly
can’t remember the first song I learned on guitar, but the first song I ever learned
was “Hot Cross Buns” on the trumpet at 11 years old.
