8.7 COMMENCE AND COMPLETE INTERNSHIP
As you start your internship, it will be like taking a new class, except that
the classroom is in a workplace. Whether your internship is 10 weeks, 12
weeks, 20 weeks or 22 weeks, no matter the assignments you are given,
keep an open mind and a learning attitude. Revisit the pointers given
in section 6.2 regularly. Remember that the value that you bring to the
workplace will be the value you bring to yourself at the end of the day.
Y ou will be assigned an organisation supervisor at the company as well
as a faculty supervisor from your school. Maintain regular contact with
them and discuss your progress and learning. They will also be the one
responsible for assessing your internship performance. Should you
encounter difficulties or challenges, they will be the best persons to help
you. Alternatively, you can always contact your internship programme
manager at CAO (See section 11).
Upon successfully completing the internship, ask your organisation
supervisor (and even those whom you have worked closely with) for
a reference letter. Such letters will serve as testaments towards your
abilities, motivation, and attitude which will be extremely helpful for your
future job-hunts. You will also receive a Certificate of Accomplishment
from us at CAO.
