How was it being a good friend and cousin to Romeo?

It was an adventure. As kids we were always playing around the Montague estate. As we got older we grew to be more friend than playmates. We always told each other everything. That is why it hurt me to know that he had not told me of his marriage. Romeo was a great guy, but he had his faults. He had been a real ladies man. He also could be a real pain. When, Rosaline rejected his love he moped about the house for days. He never took rejection well. Even though he could be a bit of a girl, he was still a good guy.

How did you take the news of his death?

At first I was completely numb all over. It seemed so surreal to first lose Mercutio, but then to lose my good friend. Then I got angry when the reason he died was for some silly girl. I would have thought that some common sense would have rubbed off on him. Now days, I am over the anger, but the loss of a friend still weighs heavy on my heart.

What was your first thought when you found out that Romeo and Juliet were married?

I first thought he betrayed the Montague name by marrying a Capulet. Then I got furious thinking, why did he not tell me? After all we had always told each other everything. I thought he had betrayed our friendship. I decided this anger would not go away and talked things over with Friar Laurence. He helped me see that the romance happened so fast and that Romeo did not even have time to tell me before he was banished. He also told me that the only reason he had known was because he preformed the ceremony.

If Romeo had told you he was going to marry Juliet what would you have told him?

I would have advised him to get over her. I would have told him she is not worth the stress of keeping, with the family feud going on. I might have been able to stop him and therefore save two lives, if he had only told me. After all, she was just probably another one of his flings that he took too serious. I really wish he would have asked for my advice.
