BUSINESS SCHOLARS – scholars.business.utah.edu
The Business Scholars program introduces you to the David Eccles School of Business as part of an engaging learning
community. As a Business Scholar, you can explore the challenges facing companies in marketing, entrepreneurship,
accounting, finance, data analytics, and management. You will also have the opportunity to take an international
trip focused on company and cultural visits the summer after your freshman year. Business Scholars work with a
committed group of faculty, academic advisors, career counselors and peer mentors from your introductory courses
through internships and job offers. Scholarships are available for qualifying students.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE (ELI)

The ELI Program at the University of Utah offers 8 levels of intensive English classes from beginner to advanced.
Instructors offer excellent English language instruction in a fun and interactive classroom environment. ELI students
have access to the same facilities and opportunities as traditional students, including free public transportation,
and admittance to athletic facilities, libraries, and computer labs across campus.
If you apply, please allow at least three months to process your ELI application and I-20 before the session start
date. Each eight-week session costs $2,000. Upcoming 2016-2017 intensive program session dates are:

LEAP – leap.utah.edu
LEAP is a two-semester seminar that enables first-year students to smoothly transition to the University of Utah,
while building skills in your selected academic area. As a participant in LEAP, you will work with outstanding faculty
in small classes and participate in social and service activities. The LEAP program allows you to stay in classes with
the same classmates and faculty during your first year, and fulfills two General Education requirements. There are

The Honors College allows you to participate in small, liberal arts and sciences style classes at the University of
Utah. Honors students benefit from personal faculty connections, community building, research opportunities, and
individual advising. Students who earn the Honors Bachelor’s Degree complete four core classes, three electives and
a final thesis or capstone project. The Honors College is open to students from any major, and you can apply using
the general admissions application. Students in the Honors College can live in the Marriott Honors Community,
which opened in 2012.

BlockU courses are organized by subject to maximize learning and help you successfully complete 15 credit hours per
semester during your first year. In many cases, participating in two consecutive BlockU semesters will clear all your
General Education requirements. First-year students apply for BlockU prior to class registration, and as part of the
program will enroll in a theme specific learning community. BlockU students benefit from access to peer mentors, a
dedicated advisor, librarian, and student success advocate. You can select from one of the following BlockU courses:

The University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) is locat ed on Incheon Global Campus in Songdo, South Korea. Students
from around the world have convenient access, at lower tuition, to the University of Utah’s faculty, staff, and
academic culture at UAC, with the same opportunities that come with residing near one of Asia’s largest
metropolitan cities. UAC students benefit from completing their programs on the Utah campus in Salt Lake City.
