There are some beautiful locations on this planet where you can take time out to enjoy the beauty of nature and the jungles of western Belize is one of them. Here you can wake to the sounds of a jungle, the croaking toucans or calling parrots. These are the sounds that are just deafening and yet, at the same time, are just so beautiful because they are all sounds natural to the habitat, it is freedom. Western Belize is one of those amazing places that just offers so much, you can never really have enough time, which is why people return again and again, to enjoy and absorb the ancient Maya ruins, the hidden caves, the exotic birds, the stunning waterfalls and activities for the more adventurous but for me, it is the opportunity to do much of the exploring by horseback that is the draw. Being on a horse is one of the most beautiful ways to explore, not only are you within nature you are connected with a very spiritual animal who will lift your spirits and heighten your awareness of your surroundings. Your spirits lift as soon as you see a horse, they sense you, and this connection is all part of the ride. To ride through the jungles, with your guide, to see the beauty from above the ground, is a priceless experience, you can of course take different methods to explore, but even if you have never ridden a horse before, you should try this, there are horses for every level, but just imagine turning the corner to visit the Maya ruins, on horseback, the experience would be just so much more. Belize is in the heart of the Ancient Maya Civilization, and is home to countless ruins. Walk where ancient kings & warriors walked, climb steps only meant for royalty and learn about this amazingly advanced civilization. Sites like Tikal, Caracol, and Xunantunich are all within a half day’s travel of the resort everyone has seen pictures, or read about the Maya www.internationallifestylemagazine.com
