The story of Lawrence of Morocco began with an adventure back in 1966. In a Fiat 500, from London to the Atlas mountains, Chris Lawrence set off with the aim of setting up skiing holidays in Morocco (I did mention that this is a diverse country!) to drive anywhere, overseas, back in 1966 was an adventure in itself, but when you consider that most people had not even considered holidaying abroad at this time, Butlins was in full swing in the 60´s, the idea of setting up skiing holidays was almost madness, but Chris arrived and his company was set up. The Best of Morocco, which very soon became the leading company for any Moroccan holiday. Fast forward to 1993 and his son Max set up an office in Marrakech, using his knowledge of the country and the language to co-ordinate photography shoots for international fashion companies. In 2000 Chris and Max branched out into the hotel business, working with another Father and son team, architects Charles and Mathieu Boccara, they designed, and built, Caravanserai, one of the pioneers of hip hotels in Marrakech. In 2005 Chris and Max decided to sell Best of Morocco, which was at the height of its success, but that deep passion for Morocco, or their enthusiasm to share it with others, never faded. Old contacts in Morocco were revived, new networks put in place. Chris and Max took to the road again (this time in a 4x4) to comb Morocco for the latest hotels, adventures and travel experiences. In October 2011 Lawrence of Morocco was born. There is so much to do in Morocco that it makes perfect sense to organise a tour, this can be as hectic or as relaxed as you wish, but, and once you are in Morocco you will understand this, you do not really want to be in one place for a week or two.
