THE POWER OF YOU Words : The Barefoot Doctor

The truth is no one really knows whether everything is irrevocably predestined , written in the palm of our hands , our astrological charts and DNA , or whether it ’ s a free-for-all in which we have the power to manifest whatever we want , provided we have a clear intention about what we want in the first place ( the tricky bit ), and hold that intention steady through thick and thin , doing whatever ’ s required with all the elegance and excellence we can muster until it comes to pass .

No one really knows whether it was always destined that we ’ d make that intention and exert the requisite persistence to make it happen ; whether we ’ re just presciently discerning what ’ s coming and merely responding to that by believing we ’ re manifesting something ; or indeed a paradoxical combination of predestination and freewill we ’ ll never be able to intellectually resolve . And it actually doesn ’ t matter . Because it certainly feels as if we ’ re manifesting things . It certainly feels as if we ’ re required to summon the courage , gumption and determination to rise up to meet destiny and make something of it . And if it feels like it , to all and intents and purposes , it is , seeing as feelings are all we really have as any indicator of reality , all the rest being merely opinions based on a set of subjective , mostly spurious criteria . Myself , I experience it as a combination of the two : on the one hand I ’ ve a deep sense everything that ’ s coming has already happened , affording me startling instances of deja vu and an uncanny facility to predict events ( though oddly this is occasionally thrown by being spectacularly wrong , especially regards timing ), hence inviting me to relax and simply allow life to unfold as it was always going to ; and on the other , an innate sense of having to regularly gather myself , clarify my intended outcome and focus my energies on the goal till it comes to pass . And that I was always going to do so , yet had I elected not to , and I was always free to do that too , it would not have come to pass . Which may sound like mere gobbledegook , and possibly is . Either way , like waves and particles it ’ s certainly a paradox we ’ ll probably never resolve . Then there are those phases it feels as if the only aspect of free will available is the choice between
embracing , loving and enjoying whatever ’ s happening , simply because it ’ s a miracle to be here at all , or to resist it , feel sorry for myself and thus not enjoy it at all . I notice the former seems to elicit an amplification of destiny , an exponential increase of options apparent at any given turn , while the latter diminishes it and appears to limit the options . But it might not be so . As I say , no one , no matter how clever-sounding has ever got anywhere near discovering the absolute truth about the dilemma of freewill or destiny and likely never will . So as a little game with reality here , I propose we adopt manifesting-through-intention as our mode , in an existential experimental spirit and see what happens . But rather than waste your powers on such relative trivia as parking spaces , jobs , money , love affairs , or on any specific event or situation , all or any of which may be what you want but , as you know , also may not be what you want when you get them , I suggest focusing on the actual experience , the existential state you ’ re after , which you imagine www . internationallifestylemagazine . com
