Continental Biomass Industries (CBI) has released new options for the Magnum Force 754 Disc Chipper, which was already designed to top load and pack trailers. Powered by a CAT C27 1050 HP engine, the 754 Disc Chipper “devours” lumber stacks even when being fed by two operators at the same time, according to the manufacturer. Capable of producing up to 150 t/h, the 75 in diameter, four-knife babbitted or key knife chipper disc is able to produce wood chips from 3/8 in to 1 in depending on the desired end product. Complete with a 26 in feed opening designed to accept larger diameter trees, this disc chipper will pack the whole forest into your trailer. Over the years, customers from Australia to South Carolina have used the 754 for diverse forestry applications. CBI developed an array of new chute options to meet unique needs around the world. Owners can now choose between the standard top loading chute, a designated end loading chute purpose-built to pack trailers, a designated vertical top loading The 754 combines capacity and mobility chute that can rotate 250°, and a top loading/broadcast option that allows operators to spray and stockpile chips. Standing on D7 Berco tracks with superior ground clearance and equipped with a new vertical chute option that has a 250° range of rotation, the chipper can be positioned for trucks even on the narrowest of landings. The adjustable end deflector ensures the unit blasts wood chips with the velocity and precision demanded by modern contractors. “We had a customer tell us they never thought they would see a disc chipper fill a van in the woods in less than 10 minutes,” said Aaron Murray, R&D engineer at CBI. “The 754 did it in six and a half minutes.” Increased loading speed Contractors who work with inconsistent log diameters or lengths know the frustration of aligning loads. The 754’s new optional feed deck extension bolts on to the back of the infeed and allows operators to align longer logs of various sizes more efficiently without guiding them down. Driven by a powered idler roll, the extension aligns and powers logs to the throat of the chipper box while the driver is already focusing on the next grab, making for a seamless operation. Providing a continuous positive feed, the top feed roll is equipped with a high-torque Poclain internal drive and the bottom feed roll is equipped with a high-torque Brevini planetary drive, both CONTINENTAL BIOMASS INDUSTRIES 7544 FLAIL & DISC CHIPPER • • CAT C-32, 1200 HP engine • Standalone flail & disc chipper, only 53’ long • Maximum debarking & high-quality chip production • 75” 4-knife chipper disc with babbited or Key Knife system, combined with a three-roll flail design OUTPRODUCE • OUTPERFORM • OUTLAST CBI • 22 Whittier Street, Newton, New Hampshire 03858 USA • (603) 382-0556 • www.cbi-inc.com International Forest Industries | APRIL / MAY 2017 51
