The Komatsu 855 is a flexible all-round machine that gets the job done , whatever it is , according to the manufacturer . The new model is brand new , from its chassis and powertrain to its crane , bunk and cab .
The 875 is also brand-new forwarder model and is unique in the 16 t load capacity class . From its chassis and powertrain to its crane and bunk , the new model is designed to deliver a higher load capacity in its primary application – final logging – and when there are particularly high demands in terms of productivity .
Meanwhile , the Komatsu 895 is a forwarder that has become a “ giant in the world of mechanized professional forestry ”, according to the manufacturer .
“ With its 20 t load capacity , unique powertrain with 28.5 in bogie and wheels , and one of the market ’ s largest forwarder loaders , it is the preferred choice for heavy final logging on the world ’ s largest forestry markets of Sweden / Norway , Canada , Brazil , Australia and Russia ,” Komatsu said .
What makes our forwarders unique ? Efficiency has been the aim when it comes to the new forwarder program ; high productivity per hour , at low costs per produced volume . The high productivity is the result of the new , larger bunk , FlexBunk , the height and width of which can be adjusted from the cab . Greater productivity is also possible thanks to the new powertrain , with its enhanced engine power and traction .
Another aim is terrain mobility . This is provided by the Komatsu Comfort Bogie with portals , giving high ground clearance all the way to the wheels . Other factors contributing to this are the boatshaped chassis with high-tensile steel underneath and a front blade that can be raised higher than ever .
The new bogie lift on the 855 ensures greater versatility in different situations and contributes to better maneuverability in the forest as well as when driving in terraced slopes and on roads where the driver wants to avoid removing the chains .
The intelligent transmission , which optimizes power and speed based on terrain , load , the engine ’ s power output and whether you

are also using the crane , has been supplemented with a larger hydrostatic pump for even better handling . When it comes to the crane , the hydraulic system has been upgraded with a larger crane valve which , in combination with the new long-reach crane , Komatsu 145F , delivers improved multifunction performance and rapid crane operation .
“ The machine has been designed throughout to ensure excellent reliability in tough conditions , and the axles and articulated joint and frame system are all built to last ,” Komatsu stated . “ This saves money in the long term by reducing downtime and maintenance .”
The articulated joint on all three models and drive shaft on 875 / 895 are fitted with new solutions for sealing the bearings from dirt , which gives a long service life and lower service costs .
For the European and North American markets , this model is equipped with a new engine installation with an efficient and generously sized cooling system , variable temperature-controlled fan control , and the latest in environmental engineering for diesel engines ( Tier 4 ). The emission control is based on SCR technology without the need for exhaust gas recirculation , which , combined with the new hydraulic system , delivers low fuel consumption and a high-power output at low engine speeds .
The new engine reduces emissions of NOx and soot particles . Larger batteries , with the option for battery condition diagnostics via the fleet management system MaxiFleet , ensure that the machine starts even on cold , subarctic winter mornings . For the Brazilian market , the forwarders have MAR1 engines ( Stage 3A ). For other markets the machines will continue to have Stage 2 engines .
“ The new look of the machine gives it a powerful yet smart appearance , and the numerous improvements make servicing the machine even easier ,” Komatsu stated .
The new rounded engine hood is electrically powered and can be used as a service platform in the open position . All filters are located beneath the hood , for easy access . There are eight service hatches in the chassis providing access where it is needed most . A drain valve under the engine makes it easy to replace the engine oil without spillages . Easily accessible inspection points for oil in the engine , differentials and gearbox . “ As always with a Komatsu forwarder , the operator is the focal point ,” the manufacturer added . Already one of the most modern forwarder cabs on the market , the Komatsu can has once
more been upgraded . Improved operator protection is provided by a sturdier cab framework , a FlexGate patented full height gate , and windows secured with bolts for straightforward replacement of worn windows .
Some of the other upgraded features include a start button , central locking with a remotecontrol key , additional work lights and MediaZone . On top of this , the forwarder can be equipped with the cab suspension , Komatsu Comfort Ride , which delivers unbeatable operator comfort .
The forwarders are supplied with the market ’ s most modern control system , MaxiXplorer . The fully-integrated crane scale , Protec Scale , enables the load to be weighed automatically for production follow-ups and operational monitoring . The scale link is just as compact as a standard link and protects the hose routing for the rotator . Production can be monitored back at the office in MaxiFleet , the world ’ s first fleet management system for forest machines .
