USNR / Söderhamn Eriksson has been manufacturing lumber planers and associated equipment for decades . “ Through experience we ’ ve come to understand the needs of finished lumber producers , the global markets for finished lumber products , and the rough lumber properties that impact producing the best finish for any species ,” the company noted . USNR offers high-speed planer technology , “ superior reliability and longevity ”, along with many upgrades and enhancements to bring older systems up to today ’ s standards .

Major features
4200E planer The 4200E planer offers allelectric , high speed performance with the ability to run at speeds up to 4,200 ft / minute ( 1,300 m / minute ), and to gap feed or ribbon feed . This machine offers a truly maintenance-friendly design with the capability to change feed rolls from the operator ’ s side , thus reducing change-out time to a couple of hours .
Planer bedplates are shimless , for fast and fully adjustable alignment . Fast , solid and reliable , the 4200E planer features an allelectric design .
“ When we designed this planer we started with a blank slate , and built into it all the latest features and functionality that any modern planer operation needs to carry it into the future ,” USNR stated .
• All electric design
• Gap and / or ribbon feed
• Speeds up to 4,200 ft / minute ( 1,300 m / minute )
• Larger cutting heads , more knives , higher speeds than previous models
• Robust , rigid design for years of trouble-free operation
• Quick change feed roll , from operator access side
• Fully adjustable ( shimless ) alignment
• Zero lead , for reduced friction and fire hazard
• Centralized bearing lubrication .
Coastal Planer USNR also offers the tried-andtrue Coastal Planer design that has proven itself in hundreds of installations .
The Coastal Planer design offers excellent lumber surfacing at speeds in the range of 3,000 ft / minute ( 900 m / minute ). This design reliably maximizes quality and production , while minimizing downtime . It offers features such as quick-change cutterheads , automatic set-up changes and easy access for maintenance .
The Coastal Planer is also flexible . It offers the ability to ribbon-feed , providing continuous control of the board through the planer to minimize break-ups and jams . Alternatively , operators can configure a gap to allow processing brittle , weak stock with minimal breakage .
Electric drive conversion USNR has developed a patented electric drive conversion that makes it possible to retrofit most planers . Similar conversion packages are available for most planer infeed systems , also . Motors and gear ratios can be easily tailored to suit any application . The conversion can be further customized with VFDs , HMIs and control ’ s integration .
