Multidirectional forklifts and sideloaders from the Irish manufacturer Combilift area very popular choice for operations both large and small. Combilift’s initial product when it was established in 1998 was the world’s first IC engine powered, all-wheel drive multidirectional forklift – the Combilift C4000, and the company has since developed scores of machines, all designed for the safe, space saving and productive handling of diverse loads. A major advantage of the multidirectional truck concept is its ability to travel sideways in narrow spaces with long loads resting on the truck’s platform and the extreme manoeuvrability and safety that this provides. Trying to move 5 m, 10 m or longer lengths of timber with conventional trucks such as counterbalance forklifts is problematic to say the least and also requires large areas to be set aside for manoeuvring. This, plus a Combilift’s ability to replace various other types of forklifts, is a key reason for companies to phase out so called conventional forklifts and switch to Combilift fleets. The timber sector was one of the first to recognise the benefits of Combilift’s customised products and thousands are in operation around the world for familiar names such as Weyerhaeuser, Boise, Stora Enso, Moelven Wood, Tolko, Luvian Saha, Sierra Pacific and many others. “Whether you handle extreme lengths of lumber, engineered timber, timber frames, palletised goods or a mix of products, there is a Combilift model that can deliver the goods,” said Combilift Managing Director Martin McVicar. “Since we launched our first C4000 Combilift we now offer models from 1 t upwards with an almost infinite choice of options. Our range encompasses 4-way sideloaders, stand-on trucks for extremely narrow aisle operation, pedestrian operated stackers, the large cab XL series and straddle carriers for containers and oversized loads. “Our products are designed to be tough workhorses which operate inside and out in all weather conditions. We use standard and easily sourced components to make service and maintenance very straightforward wherever in the world your Martin McVicar, Managing Director Combilift Combilift is operating.” Celebrating its 20th year in business in 2018, Combilift has sold over 38,000 units which are exported to more than 75 countries. The company is in the process of moving all production to its new £40 million, 46,000m² manufacturing facility and global HQ on a 40 ha site in Monaghan, Ireland. The new factory will be officially opened in the spring, and this expansion will position Combilift to double its current output and turnover in the next five years.
