The patented levelling control system uses sensor technology stability and tractive effort needed for steep terrain. Additionally, a variety of boom sets featuring thick plates and large pins and bushings offer a sturdy solution with the reach and durability required for steep slope logging. The John Deere tracked carriers can also be used with third- party winch-controlled traction- assist systems. These systems allow tracked feller bunchers or harvesters to be tethered together using a winch or cable system, helping with traction while also increasing machine stability. Wheeled solutions A leader in wheeled solutions, John Deere G-Series Harvesters and Forwarders offer loggers the stability and power needed for working on steep and uneven terrain. Each machine is equipped with a patented balanced bogie system designed to deliver industry-leading tractive effort. Additionally, the eight-wheeled harvester and forwarders, including the 1270G Eight-Wheel Harvesters, offer operators even more traction and stability, and can be fitted with tracks if desired, helping to provide better flotation with less ground disruption compared to chains. All John Deere G-Series Wheeled Harvesters are equipped with standard Processing Power Control (PPC). PPC optimizes fuel efficiency by anticipating the engine load and responding with the right power increase. An advanced twin-pump hydraulic system ensures ample power for smooth, simultaneous operation and maximum control of the boom and harvester heads. “The G-Series Harvesters were designed to provide the power and precision needed to tackle steep slope terrain,” said Sakari Suuriniemi, Product Marketing Manager for John Deere. “The incorporation of PPC ensures that the operator can maintain precise control of the boom and head, and provides ample power to climb steep slopes.” The user-friendly TimberMatic H-16 control system on the G-Series 60 International Forest Industries | DECEMBER 2017 / JANUARY 2018 The G-Series Harvesters were designed to provide the power and precision needed to tackle steep slope terrain Sakari Suuriniemi, John Deere Harvesters increases processing capacity, enhances machine performance and precision, and improves operator productivity. The rotating and levelling cab on the G-Series Harvesters features ergonomically designed seats and air conditioning and heating, reducing operator fatigue and boosting productivity. Designed to provide the power needed for steep slope operations, the G-Series forwarders feature a larger hydrostatic-mechanical, 2-spread gearbox transmission, providing more tractive effort than previous models. For a traction-assist solution, German-based HAAS Maschinebau has developed a solution exclusively for John Deere wheeled harvesters and forwarders. Being used in a variety of markets including Europe, South America and North America, this proven winch solution is installed on the front or rear of the machine. This allows the operator to work above or below the extraction road. Additionally, it can be fitted with an optional straw-line winch to simplify the jobsite set-up.
