U.S. Bilateral African Chamber of Commerce
Nnewi Round Table
The U.S. Bilateral African Chamber of Commerce hosted a business round-
table on Friday, July 6th, featuring Nigerian business leaders Dr. Cletus Ibeto,
Chief Dr. Chika Okafor and Dr. Kingsley Moghalu. This particular event
took part on the sidelines of the Nnewi USA Convention.
Nnewi, in Anambra State, has been described as the “industrial hope of Nige-
ria”, by Vice-President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the region is known
for its entrepreneurial spirit.
The roundtable featured a discussion on Africa’s path to socio-economic sta-
bility through innovation and entrepreneurship. Speakers touched on a wide
range of topics such as Power Generation, Economic Development and In-
vestment Opportunities in various sectors in Africa.
In attendance was keynote speaker Dr. Cletus Ibeto. Dr. Ibeto is a world-class
business leader and entrepreneur, through Ibeto Cement Company Ltd; he
has revolutionized the cement industry in Nigeria. His interest spans auto-
mobile spare parts, cement production, energy, hospitality, petrochemicals and
real estate. He also owns several hotels across Nigeria under the Ibeto hos-
pitality brand. Dr. Ibeto is mentioned on the Forbes Africa article “The Small
Town of the Super Rich”[i] written by Eromo Egbejule. Dr. Ibeto recently
acquired an American company for $850 million dollars.
