HAITI: OPEN FOR BUSINESS
Tri-County Regional Black Chamber of Commerce’s (TCRBCC) led the
International Initiative Program Trade Mission to Haiti on June 12-15, 2018.
The mission was enthusiastically supported and well-received by the Haitian
business community and government officials, resulting in substantial business
opportunities.
The mission of the TCRBCC International Initiative Program is to explore
viable trade and commerce markets within CARICOM and to strengthen
trade relationships in the region with TCRBCC member firms. Twenty U.S.
delegates participated in the mission to Haiti. “The support TCRBCC re-
ceived from chambers of commerce in Haiti and partnering organizations was
tremendous; the more than 70 Haitian business delegates participating in B2B
meeting were eager to create strategic partnerships with TCRBCC’s U.S.
delegates,” stated Leondria Thompson, Tri-County Regional Black Chamber
of Commerce’s chairwoman, president & CEO. Partner organizations in Haiti
included Chambre de Commerce et de L’Industrie Haiti, AmCham Haiti,
and the Chamber of Commerce of Women Entrepreneurs (CCEH).
“The trade mission was an excellent opportunity to promote the products
and services of Houston-area businesses to government officials and entre-
preneurs in Haiti,” said Deanea LeFlore, Chief of Protocol in the Mayor’s
Office of Trade and International Affairs. “Mayor Turner looks forward to
welcoming reciprocal delegations from Haiti in the near future and pursuing
economic and cultural opportunities for the benefit of both Houstonians and
Haitians,” she added.
