Publisher’s Note
ome of the most interest-
ing people in the world
live right here in the city
of Houston. With all due
respect to native Houstonians,
I’ve found our international immi-
grant communities to be the most inter-
esting — especially Houston’s diplomatic com-
munity.
Over the past year, iF Magazine has interviewed
Consul Generals and community leaders from
the continents of Asia, Africa, Europe, and Cen-
tral and South America. I was amazed to learn
about the many positive contributions that these
people are making to the outcomes of global
events. We know that the global landscape is
rapidly changing. No longer can we just say, “it’s
my way or the highway.” That’s why diplomacy
is more important than ever in our fast-chang-
ing and potentially dangerous world.
50 iF Magazine | January 2018
As I’ve mentioned before, I love the unique po-
sition of serving as the publisher of a one-of-a-
kind publication such as the International Focus
(iF) Magazine. Here I can interview fascinating
people and learn more about Houston’s interna-
tional leadership. I’d do it without pay — but an
occasional advertisement every now and then is
always nice!
I’m looking forward to a new year, new people,
and new ideas and opportunities for iF Maga-
zine. Meanwhile, our team of directors, contrib-
utors, reporters, photographers, graphic artists,
and writers are gearing up to make iF Magazine
Houston’s “go-to” publication for information
about its vibrant international communities.
Happy New Year! And, as always — thank you
for your readership!
