The directors and teachers I was honored to meet were Dr. Nghia Le, J. Kim- bo, Headmaster; Pardon Marabada, instructor; Ashackkkalaus Taylor; Benny Mudziwapali, instructor; and Dr. Reagan Flowers CEO CCSTEM teacher and support services. Their visit to Houston was not all work and study. Their trip included a for- mal welcome to Booker T. Washington High School, a dinner at the Sheraton Brookhollow Hotel, a trip to the Space Center, the University of Houston, Kemah, and the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo. What trip to Texas would be complete without seeing something truly Western? There were plans in March for a group of students and teachers from Booker T. Washington High School to travel to Zimbabwe in November and deliver a finished Wind Turbine and Water Filtration System that could remove the dangerous E. Coli from contaminated water. The Coup that took place in Zimbabwe and Houston’s catastrophic flood after Harvey caused the trip to be cancelled. There are plans for students from Houston to travel to Zimbabwe in 2018. No date has been set yet. The funds that had been collected for the trip in November were returned. If you wish to get more information about the cultural exchange project and the students’ trip, please contact Dr. Carlos Phillips, principal at Booker T. Washington High School.
