MILESTONES
SENATOR
BORRIS MILES
Fort Bend County
District 13
Interview by
Sonia Guimbellot
The afternoon was filled with Kona
ice, healthy food, and a huge crowd of
support for the man we were about
to interview. Walking into his office
next to Congressman Al Green’s in
the Fort Bend District, we’re imme-
diately introduced to former senior
adviser to the Mayor, Keith Wade.
“Without Keith, there’d be no me,”
the senator stated.
iF: What does a Senator in your
capacity and role do?
Senator Miles: “Set policy, gov-
ern and work with lead elected of-
ficials to ensure that we have the
proper resources and we’re doing
the right thing for our citizens of
this community, for Fort Bend/Mis-
souri City. I’m looking forward to
their getting to know Senator Bor-
ris Miles. If not for Fort Bend there

would be no Senator Borris Miles;
they were very pivotal in our elec-
tions. We carried the entire delega-
tion in our election and thus made
sure their voices were heard in the
State House. As for the constituents,
we’ll be there for them to give faith
to commemorate, kicking off the ful-
fillment of that commitment to them
and my staff will be reaching out to
them as well. You can see the other
elected officials showing up here to-
day is a signal to me, we all will sit
down and work together, whatever
they had with the seat, the political
issues they had before me … made
it very clear that if it’s not about the
betterment of the kids and people in
this area then we won’t be about it.
Moving forward, we make sure the
resources for the state are properly
dispersed and this community gets
what they deserve.”
