have work life balance even better
than what I did when I was building
my career.” I thought of her staff/
team and concluded that’s an exam-
ple of another program created and
initiated to add to the rest they do
for others.
Final question: Do you have any
goals in the future for WGC?
Janis: Yes, I have a couple of goals.
One, I would love to hand a big fat
check to UNICEF because I love
what they are doing and the more
registrants we get, the more money
I can raise for them. I would love
to have every country that has roots
here be a part of this. They have a
corporation that is represented then
it is doable. The second goal would
be to host the best and largest WCG
ever in history. ‘In history,’ I repeated
I then asked: ‘so with that, what is the
largest WCG in history?’ Good ques-
tion she said, I think they had 10,000
in one of the games in Europe.
(Records aside, the success of each
USA Rugby event would not have
been possible without the support of
the Harris County, Houston Sports
Authority.)
We found a nice surprise in the lob-
by on the way to the reception area
as we could see the signatures of no-
torious tennis stars, Serena & Venus
Williams, among many other notable
sports legends filling up the space of
huge white letters spelling out the
word HOUSTON. Next up was
reception where I wanted to check
the optics on the dynamic red chairs
in front of the case of sports related
awards. You can see basketball items
and Dynamo soccer, cups and tro-
phies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd polo teams
and a Final Four banner in lobby. A
winning hand or few at this organi-
zation as Houston should be proud
to know they at HSA just got named
