this event but for every event — we meet with people in the community that we think have a good connection or that makes sense . When we hosted rugby years ago , rugby is not a popular sport in the United States , I think the most attendance anyone has ever had is a few thousand people . We then began organizing a committee of people who loved ruby or involved in it whether they played in high school or college level . Our first game , we had 17,200 people in our soccer stadium . That is not because I ’ m so smart and I know how to market rugby but it is because we put the right people in .
So with WCG , it is putting the right people around the table . As you saw today , a result of putting the right
people around the table , we had a great turnout and there ’ s a buzz now . There ’ s a unity in the international community . Whether it ’ s Sister Cities or the Consular Corps — there ’ s a buzz now ! The Consular Corps , Sister Cities , WCCT , MOTIA , mayor ’ s office of special events , all gathering just to make sure Houston has the largest WCG ever ! How do we do that ? You hit a certain age and your body turns into a third grade Play-Do ® experiment . Our city has good food . Fit fitness in there and exercise .” I said , “ and you balance it out for us . You can have both now .” She added , “ and trust me , I go to all of those restaurants . We ’ ll put a team together to make sure I hit all of those goals too , haha !”
We can now hold up our IF cups . Janis says “ direct us , make us look thinner ” to my photographer . There ’ s a Houston book on the coffee table , adding to the whole Houston Sports Authority theme for branding in the photos . I began thinking and stating how amazing it is to get people in involved for company mural . She replied , “ Millennials work differently and play differently than we did . For guys that are like 30 and under , they don ’ t go to Rotary or Lions Club . They don ’ t volunteer time like our parents and grandparents did . What they do is build teams in the work environment . Even my staff , one day they signed up for a kickball team without my knowing on their own initiative . Important for us on this , we can learn from that … my generation can learn from those that are younger . I think it ’ s important to
