Community Colleges On The Global Stage

It has been said that education is the new diplomacy . If so , 250 delegates from 30 states and 14 countries learned tools of the trade at the Community Colleges for International Development ( CCID ) Conference February 18-20 , 2017 , in Houston , Texas .
CCID , the international consortium of 130 community colleges , technical , and vocational institutions , stresses workforce development , education , and training in a world where the need is increasing each year . Many countries have majority populations under the age of 25 . They can provide a pool of skilled workers where jobs are often unfilled . In other cases , a two-year program allows students to reduce the cost of getting a four-year degree .
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner , gave the keynote address in which he said that his city is what America will look like in the future . According to a study by the Rice / Kinder Institute for Urban Research , its diverse population of Anglos , Blacks , Latinos , and Asians / Others is divided into approximately 25 % each .
Sessions for the attendees ranged from Building an Overseas Campus to Grant Writing to Educational Solutions for Global Competitiveness . Although many four-year universities have Study Abroad programs , it is becoming more
