aturally, most people when thinking about Great Britain automatically turn their attention to
London, but I’d like to invite you to join me as I take you on a tour of northern England and
the city of Manchester. The northern part of England has had a tremendous impact on the
world because it was the cradle of the Industrial Revolution. In the 1800s northern England
was experiencing great wealth through its agricultural success. People were living longer and
beginning to accumulate wealth which allowed inventers and investors to look beyond the farm
and create industries. Cotton was king and you can still see the mills in cities like Manchester
although most of them have been repurposed now. It’s the largest city in northern England and
is a fantastic tourist attraction as is the rest of the north. Because of the “Special Relationship”
between the United States and Great Britain, people enjoy visiting northern England for business and pleasure.
